Before the Spring Festival, families clean their homes to sweep away bad luck. They also put up red couplets on the doors. Red is a lucky color in Chinese culture. Children like this festival very much because they can get red envelopes with money from their parents and relatives.

During the Spring Festival, people visit their friends and relatives. They say "Happy New Year" to each other. Some people also set off fireworks to welcome the new year. The festival lasts for about 15 days, and the Lantern Festival is the last day.
